Countryside volunteers
This section provides information about countryside volunteers.
Reigate & Banstead Borough Council actively supports a number of conservation volunteer groups that work on Council owned land.
Downlands Countryside Management Project and Gatwick Greenspace Partnership
Along with various neighbouring local authorities the Council provides funding for the:
- Downlands Countryside Management Project
- Gatwick Greenspace Partnership.
The projects both have large volunteer groups that are involved in all kinds of conservation management work in the north and south of the Borough, which includes tree planting, access work, conservation grazing, woodland management and pond conservation.

The Reigate Area Conservation Volunteers (RACV)
RACV carry out valuable conservation work in the middle part of the borough.
The group is actively involved in the management of sites such as
- Reigate Heath
- Earlswood Common
- Petridgewood Common
- Felland Copse.

Other groups
Other volunteer groups operate in the Borough, covering sites such as Nork Park and Stagbury Downs in Chipstead.
