Community Infrastructure Levy Strategic Fund

What is the Strategic Fund?

The majority of the money collected through the levy is pooled together to spend on larger infrastructure projects across the borough. This is known as the Strategic Fund.

The Strategic Fund must be used to fund the provision, improvement, replacement, operation or maintenance of infrastructure which is needed to support growth in the borough. The types of infrastructure which the Strategic Fund could be spent on are set out in our Regulation 123 list, including:

  • schools
  • roads and transport
  • healthcare and medical facilities
  • open spaces and facilities for sport and recreation
  • flood management

The Council will develop a Strategic Infrastructure Programme (SIP) to guide how the Strategic Fund will be spent. This programme will identify – for a period of five years – the infrastructure projects which the Council will fund through the levy and the amount of funding which it is willing to contribute.

The Council's Executive considered and agreed the SIP at its meeting on 13 July 2017
