Household electoral registration enquiry form
Reigate and Banstead will be carrying out the statutory Annual Household Electoral Registration Canvass from 12 July 2018. Every household in the borough will receive a Household Enquiry Form detailing the names of all electors we have registered to vote at the property. You need to respond as soon as possible to confirm the information is correct for example;
- if there are new residents
- if there are any name changes
- if anyone aged 16 and over should be added or
- if anyone has moved out of the property and should no longer be registered.
The form has a security code and you can respond quickly and easily online:
Please respond immediately, in order to save council funds. We are required by law to carry out this audit each year. Don’t forget, if you are a new elector, or have recently moved home, you must also go to the register to vote website to complete an individual online application.
The Electoral Register
The electoral register lists the names and addresses of everyone who is registered to vote in public elections. The register is used for electoral purposes, such as making sure only eligible people can vote, political parties are also entitled to a copy of the register by law and may use it to plan their election campaigns. The register is used for other limited purposes specified in law such as detecting crime (e.g. fraud), calling people for jury service and checking credit applications.
The electoral register of electors is available to view by appointment only and under supervision at the Town Hall, Castlefield Road, Reigate, Surrey, RH2 0SH. No copying of this register is allowed and the information it contains cannot be used for marketing purposes. If you would like to check your entry in the register, please contact the Electoral Registration Officer at the Town Hall on 01737 276 794 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange an appointment.
If you require further information on voting and elections you can visit About my vote.
The Open Register
If you would like to request that your details are not included in the Open Register, please email your opt-out request and your name and address to email@example.com. Each elector must contact us individually - you cannot, by law, make the choice for any other elector, even if they live with you.
The Open Register is an extract of the Electoral Register, but is not used for elections. It can be bought by any person, company or organisation. For example, it is used by businesses and charities to confirm name and address details. Your name and address will be included in the Open Register unless you ask for them to be removed. Each elector must make a choice to opt-out individually.
Removing your details from the Open Register does not affect your right to vote.
