Airports

Gatwick Airport

Gatwick Airport is located directly to the south of Reigate & Banstead. As such, activity at and around the airport affects this borough. In addition, future developments at the airport also have the potential to impact on Reigate & Banstead.

We are represented on the Gatwick Airport Consultative Committee (GATCOM), which is the statutory advisory body for the airport.

Future developments at Gatwick Airport

The Airports Commission was set up by the government in November 2012 as an independent body to examine the scale and timing of any requirement for additional airport capacity. In its interim report, published in December 2013, the commission identified a need for 1 net additional runway in London and the south east.

In November 2014, the Airports Commission published a consultation document assessing a shortlist of options for this additional runway, including an option that a second runway could be constructed at Gatwick Airport. The Council has considered the consultation material and submitted its response to the Airports Commission in January 2015 which is available here:

The Council has also considered the Airports Commission's consultation document on Module 6: Air Quality Local Assessment, and submitted its response to the Airports Commission in May 2015, which is available here:

Biggin Hill Airport

Biggin Hill Airport is located in South London, to the north east of Reigate & Banstead. Flights from Biggin Hill have the potential to impact on Borough residents.
