We are lucky to live in a region with a strong economy, low unemployment and good communication links. We are even more fortunate to have towns and villages of character and beautiful countryside nearby.
Local surveys consistently tell us that these are some of the things people value most about the borough.
A desirable place to live and work
For many years these success factors have helped make the borough a desirable place to live and work, such desire being reflected in rising high land values, with housing becoming less affordable to each generation.
In addition improved healthcare and greater independence for young and old alike, plus higher separation and divorce rates, mean we tend to live longer and in smaller households. As a result of these changes in society we tend to build and live in smaller properties than we did in the past.
Successive surveys of housing within the borough have shown a relative shortage of small properties.
