Waterside Garden

A cottage garden

Waterside Garden is in Horley between Granary Close and Waterside Garden and has historically been an overgrown area. In order to address this we have decided to improve the area and redesign it as a cottage garden.

The new layout will enhance the environment and encourage bees, minibeasts, butterflies and small birds to make their home there.

Cottage gardens are informal and traditional in design. The new garden will provide colour and interest throughout the year. We are using fruit trees and native plants and trees because they are better for the health and the environment, benefitting pollinating insects and wild birds.

The work will start in March 2016 and a number of trees will have to be removed as they are in bad condition. We will be replacing these trees with more appropriate trees and shrubs.

Can you help?

Residents living nearby should find they have more light and an attractive local green space for them to enjoy. We would love local residents to come along and help with the project so please let us know if you would like to volunteer.
