Harassment and illegal eviction
This section provides information about preventing the harassment and illegal eviction of tenants in privately rented housing.
The Council has powers to prosecute landlords who illegally evict or harass their tenants.
If you are a private tenant and have a problem of this nature please call the Housing Options Team at an early stage on 01737 276790.
An officer will give you advice on your security of tenure and the correct way for a landlord to obtain possession of a property.
If you have been or are about to be illegally evicted then please call the Housing Options Team on 01737 276790.
Prosecution will only be used as a last resort once other avenues have been exhausted.
