Skip hire
This page provides information on skips in Reigate & Banstead.
The Council has ceased its Skip Hire Service.
There are many private skip hire companies working in the Borough. Residents need to make sure that they employ a reputable and licensed company.
Since The Waste (Household Waste Duty of Care) Regulations 2005 were introduced on 21 November 2005, residents and householders are required to take reasonable measures to ensure that household waste produced on their property is collected by an authorised person or company.
Employing a contractor
We recommend that residents check the following details before employing a contractor:
You should make sure that the chosen skip hire company is a registered waste carrier. Each licensed waste carrier is given a waste carrier registration number by the Environment Agency. This number can be checked with the Environment Agency on 08708 506 506 where you can ask for a Waste Carrier validation check or via Waste Directory (Environment Agency website).
- You as the householder are liable for prosecution should your waste turn up flytipped or disposed of illegally.
If you need to place a skip on the highway (including the verge), the skip company will have to get permission, in the form of a skip licence, from Surrey County Council (the Highway Authority).
For a list of approved skip hire contractors Registered Skip Companies (Surrey County Council website) or call them on 03456 009 009.
