There are a number of possible causes of food poisoning.
Usually food poisoning is caused by a type of bacteria which has survived in the food or drink until the point of consumption.
Below is a list of common bacteria which cause food poisoning.

- Bacillus cereus
Symptoms: Nausea, vomiting, diahorrea - Campylobacter
Symptoms: Diahorrea, fever, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting - Clostridium Perfringens
Stomach pain, diahorrea, nausea - Cryptosporidiosis
Symptoms: Diahorrea, cramps, bloating, abdominal pain - E.coli VTEC
Symptoms: Stomach cramps, vomiting, mild fever, severe diarrhoea, kidney failure - Hepatitus A
Symptoms: Fever, malaise, loss of appetite, nausea and abdominal discomfort, usually followed by jaundice - Norovirus (including Gastric Flu)
Symptoms: Projectile vomiting, nausea, diahorrea, stomach cramps - Salmonella
Symptoms: Diarrhoea, fever, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, headache - Staphylococcus
Symptoms: Projectile vomiting, abdominal pains, diahorrea
