Car alarm noise
This section provides information and advice about noise nuisance from vehicle alarms.
It is possible that this activity could cause a statutory nuisance within the provisions of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 although this is not likely.
Vehicle alarms for most modern vehicles are also subject the Motor Vehicle (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986.
These regulations specify maximum permitted durations for which the alarm should sound. They are enforced by the police and the Vehicle Inspectorate.

We would also advise you to contact the police and the Vehicle Inspectorate.
We will need to know exactly where the activity is taking place and when it may be witnessed by our officers.
