Loudspeakers in the street
This section provides information and advice on using loudspeakers in the street and what constitutes a noise nuisance.
Noise from loudspeakers used for advertising in the street may cause a statutory nuisance within the provisions of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
There are also circumstances under which this activity is a direct offence under section 62 of the Control of Pollution Act 1974.
Before you make a formal complaint we strongly recommend you read our guidance notes on making a complaint.
We will need to know exactly where the activity is taking place and when it may be witnessed by our officers.
