Apply for environmental information
This section explains how you apply to receive information about the environment in Reigate and Banstead.
Generally requests for information about the environment can be made by telephone, in person at one of the Council offices or in writing.To process any request for information we will need to identify precisely what information you require, make sure that we obtain accurate contact details and advise you if there is a charge due.
If a charge is due then we will not undertake any work until you have confirmed in writing that you accept to pay the charge or pay at the time of the request.
The request for release of some forms of information can be contentious, for example where a request is about the condition of land. Due to legal considerations these types of request must be made in writing.

Much of the information is provided as leaflets which are freely available at the Council's Help Shops.
If you are seeking specific information we recommend that you make an appointment to see an officer who will ensure that the information you want is provided in a way that complies with the law. To arrange an appointment call 01737 276406.
If files need to be viewed or you need to speak to an officer in person you will need to visit the Town Hall in Reigate.
Please note that we cannot permit original documents to be taken away from the office.
Copies can be supplied and a charge will be levied for this. Payment must be made before the copies are released.
There may be occasions where material cannot be copied on the same day, for example where it is voluminous or requires special media, such as writing to a compact disc.
