Flyposting

This page is about the our stance on flyposting.

Flyposting is the act of displaying unauthorised notices or signs on Council or public property. Flyposting is an offence contrary to Section 225 of The Town & Country Planning Act 1990.

Reigate and Banstead Borough Council has a zero tolerance policy towards flyposting. This policy applies equally to commercial ventures, charities and private individuals. Flyposting is unsightly, distracting and gives rise to a disproportionate fear of crime.

Areas covered by this policy include:

  • all highway land
  • highway apparatus i.e. lamp columns & road signs
  • traffic lights
  • pedestrian barriers
  • traffic light junction boxes
  • street name plates.

In addition to these areas, it also applies to leisure land and borough car parks.

Offenders will be prosecuted.
