How benefit is paid
This section provides information and advice about payment of Benefits.
Council Tax Benefit is credited directly to your Council Tax account, reducing the amount you have to pay.
Housing Benefit will be paid fortnightly with payments direct to landlords paid every four weeks.
If you are in temporary accommodation and pay your rent to the council, your Housing Benefit will be credited to your rent account and will reduce the amount you have to pay.
When should I claim?
Straight away. If you think you may be entitled to help you may lose money if you delay making a claim.
Benefit is usually paid from the Monday following the date we receive the claim.
