Redhill town centre latest news

This page contains the latest news on the Redhill town centre revitalisation project

Redhill Regeneration Forum

The Redhill Regeneration Forum is a wider multi-agency task group set up in 2010 to drive forward and co-ordinate the regeneration of Redhill town centre, which is a key priority of both the County and Borough Councils set out in a joint Memorandum of Understanding prepared by the two authorities.

RRF includes representatives from a number of the bodies identified above and is also currently chaired by Reigate & Banstead Borough Council. Transport is an essential element of plans to bring forward the physical regeneration of key sites in the town and in the social regeneration of the area by improving accessibility to the town centre and opportunities for local people to live, work and spend their leisure time there.

Grot spots

Grot spots in and around Redhill are being targeted in a coordinated effort to enhance the town centre and boost Redhill’s image.

Twelve sites have been identified for action and we are working with public sector partners and private land owners to bring about lasting improvements.

The grot spots were identified during a walking tour of Redhill town centre with officers from Surrey Police at the end of last year. They include service yards, alleyways and left over pieces of land which blight the town centre. The sites are often in multiple ownership, making them complex problems to resolve. Once improved, we will work with partners and landowners to makes sure these areas continue to be well maintained in the future.

Food lovers' market

The food lovers' market emerged as an idea earlier this summer and has continued every month thereafter with the last market for the year anticipated on the 16th December. The market specialises in a large selection of continental cheeses, Italian biscuits, crepes, olives, local patisseries, confectionery, pasta, sauces, cooked meats, olive oils, herbs and lots more.

It has and continues to be held in Station Road from 8am to 4pm. The Food Lovers’ Market is an addition to the existing markets that take place in the town on a Thursday and Saturday.
