Horley North West Sector
This page is about the North West Sector which is the largest of the two new neighbourhoods planned in Horley
Proposals for the North West Sector include:
- 1,570 homes
- a primary school
- a community hall
- new access roads
- a site for a faith centre
- local shops and a GP surgery
- recreational and play facilities.
A consortium including Miller Homes, David Wilson Homes, Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon, are the lead development partners for the new neighbourhood.
The borough’s planning committee resolved to grant outline planning permission for the North West sector in 2007, subject to the completion of a Section 106 agreement. You can see the documents on the Planning application search and look for reference 04/02120/OUT.
A Section 106 agreement is a legally-binding agreement with a landowner in association with the granting of planning permission. These agreements are a way of delivering or addressing matters that are necessary to make a development acceptable in planning terms. As such they support t the provision of services and infrastructure, such as highways, recreational facilities, education, health and affordable housing.
Due to the collapse in the housing market there has been a delay in the completion of this agreement, however it is anticipated that this will now be finalised by the end of 2009/ early 2010.
Fully committed
Although the development of the North West Sector has been delayed, all parties, including Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, the County Council, and the Development Consortium remain fully committed to the new neighbourhood.
