According to figures from the 2011 Census, the population of Reigate & Banstead at the end of March 2011 was 137,800. The borough has the largest population of all of the Surrey districts.
Since the last Census in 2001, the population of the borough has increased by more than 11,000, equivalent to more than 1,000 people per year. Across the period, the population has grown by around 8.7% compared to Surrey at around 6.8%.
Latest projections estimate that the population within the borough will exceed 170,000 by 2033.
