Borough headlines

The 2010 Indices of Deprivation show that, by and large, Reigate & Banstead is a relatively affluent borough which does not suffer significantly from deprivation. Overall, the borough is ranked 292 out of the 326 local authorities in England (1 is most deprived). Despite this, Reigate & Banstead is the fourth most deprived borough in Surrey behind Spelthorne, Tandridge and Woking, demonstrating the very high overall affluence of the county.

However, the indices identify a number of small pockets of deprivation within the borough, particularly within regeneration areas such as Preston and Merstham which both fall within the most deprived 10% in Surrey. In contrast, Nork and Tadworth & Walton are the least deprived areas in the borough.

One of the Lower Super Output Areas (LSOA) within the Merstham ward ranks second most deprived in Surrey having been third in 2007. It is also the most deprived LSOA in Surrey within the Health & Disability domain.
