Local democracy events
This section is for anyone looking for information about Local Democracy Week Events held at the council.
Every year we host an event for students from schools across the borough as part of Local Democracy Week (or in the case of 2005, Local Democracy Year).
Students are invited to an event that aims to make them more aware of the importance and role of local government, and also to show them the importance of voting and that their vote matters, so they should use it responsibly.
The events make full use of the latest council facilities, including the electronic voting system and allows students the chance to meet some of the lead officers and councillors.
Schools, councillors and local people of interest
Each event is well supported both by the attending schools and by councillors and officers at the council.
The most recent event, held on Wednesday 4 November 2009, was a Question Time chaired by Nick Wallis (host of BBC Radio Surrey's Breakfast Show).
