Membership

Councillors M.A. Brunt (Chairman) Mrs. L.J. Brunt, S.A. Kulka, D.J. Pay and M.J. Selby..

Remit

The Overview and Scrutiny Committee has established the Scrutiny Panel to consider the Local Development Framework (LDF) Core Strategy and other key components as appropriate such as Supplementary Planning Guidance documents and Area Action Plans so that it can review the consultation proposals and offer comments for consideration.

The main objective of the Panel is to examine the principles and planning processes that underline the Local Development Framework and specifically the Core Strategy. In general the Panel’s aim should be to establish that the Local Development Framework:

  • is clear, focused, achievable, realistic and based on sound practices
  • has clear linkages with corporate and other plans that form the Policy Framework to establish that they are identifiable and designed to improve services in the Council’s priority areas
  • is applied in a way that allows it to achieve the Council’s goals, standards and priorities.

Current position

The Panel was active in 2006 across two municipal years under the Chairmanship of Councillors D.J. Pay and Dr. B. Mearns when the Panel submitted reports on the Redhill Town Centre Area Action Plan and the Core Strategy Preferred Options.

The Panel continued its work again in 2008 under the Chairmanship of Councillor M.A. Brunt and produced a report on the LDF Core Strategy.
