Remit
To comment on the Executive's proposed Statement of Policy on the Licensing Act 2003 together with the implications on the Council for the implementation of the new Liquor licensing responsibilities arising from the Act.
Scoping Report
The attached report indicates the aims and objectives of the work of the Panel, its projected outcomes, corporate governance issues and the proposed timetable for its work.
Current position
The Panel provided comments on the draft Statement of Licensing Policy, which was considered by the Executive and the Council on 8 and 9 December 2004 respectively.
The Panel also gave full consideration to the implications for the Council of this new responsibility including whether sufficient resources were in place to take on this new responsibility and to consider the decision making process and how the community could be involved.
