Comprehensive Area Assessment
This section provides information about the Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA) which was carried out annually by the Audit Commission.
About CAA
Comprehensive Area Assessment, or CAA, was a new way of assessing local public services in England. It examined how well councils were working together with other public bodies to meet the needs of the people they serve. It was a joint assessment made by a group of six independent watchdogs.
Assessments were to be made publicly available every year and would provide an annual snapshot of quality of life in the area. The results are now available on the Audit Commission website:
Latest update
Following the General Election in May 2010, the new Government decided to cease all work on the CAA.
