Grants
This section provides links and information about the grants the council allocates to organisations in the voluntary sector.
2011 deadline for submitting core funding and capital grant applications has now passed
Councillors' Community Awards are still available but please note the deadline for submitting core funding and capital grant applications has now passed.
Grants
If you represent a voluntary organisation or community group helping the people of the borough, Reigate & Banstead Borough Council wants to help you.
We provide grants to large and small organisations in a range of ways.
Having reviewed its arrangements for allocating funding to the voluntary sector, the council now awards grants annually in the following categories:
Core funding
Core funding is a public commitment from the Council to provide an agreed level of grant support on a three year rolling basis. This enables organisations to plan their operations over a longer term than an annual cycle of grants allows.Capital Grants
Capital grants are paid to meet the cost of major projects - usually for building works - and are typically between £5,000-£20,000.Local Area Capital Grants - Redhill & Merstham
This fund was introduced in 2010 to distribute a £360,000 fund secured by the council to support the development of community facilities within the local area around Watercolour, Redhill
While the deadline for the 2011 grants programmes has now passed the Council also operates a funding initiative that is available throughout the year between mid May and the end of January.
Councillors' Community Awards
Under this scheme individual Councillors are able to support and promote the work of local community groups.
General criteria for determining applications
The Council will use the following criteria for determining these applications:
Grants will be awarded at the discretion of the Council and applicants should be able to demonstrate:
- benefit to the residents of the Borough
- contribution to the Council's Quality of Life objectives as outlined in our Corporate Plan
- contribution to the priorities of the Community Plan
- fundraising and/or partnership funding.
Notwithstanding the above the Council will have regard to the organisation's financial reserves and other support provided (e.g. concessionary rents, discretionary rate relief) in determining grant.
