Customer Service Excellence Award
This section describes the Customer Service Excellence Award that the council's Customer Services team has been awarded for the excellence of its service.
The council's Customer Services team has been awarded the new Customer Excellence Award - a government scheme for excellence in public service - for its exceptional standard of service to customers.
This outstanding service to the community was initially recognised by the Charter Mark scheme in 1998. A Chartermark award lasts for three years, and Customer Services staff were delighted to receive the award four times. In January 2009 Customer Services achieved the new Customer Service Excellence Award, this is the successor to Charter Mark.
To achieve the Customer Excellence Customer Services needed to meet a range of criteria, including:
- consulting and involving customers

- setting and meeting the highest standards of service
- using resources to the maximum efficiency
- being innovative
- constantly looking to improve
- treating staff and visitors fairly.
The inspectors, who said the council "far exceeded the standard", praised the service, which covers
- the four borough Help Shops
- the Reigate Customer Services Desk
- the Town Hall reception
- the Council’s Help Line.
