Air Quality in Merstham

No formal responses were received from residents on the further assessment report, although anecdotally residents have pointed out that it comes as no surprise that there is a pollution problem with road traffic.

Croydon Council pointed out that air quality is a problem along most of the A23 within Croydon and at present they are examining measures that may help improve air quality within their borough given the proposed developments in Croydon over the next 10 years.

The next stage of air quality work in Merstham is the production of an 'action plan', which essentially is a report to central government on the measures that the council is proposing to take to improve air quality along this section of the A23. This report is due for completion in draft from towards the end of 2009 and residents will be consulted on this draft before the final report is produced.

Although formal consultation on the further assessment is now closed, if you have any questions on the air quality for Merstham pleas contact the air quality officer either by email environmental.protection@reigate-banstead.gov.uk or via the council switchboard 01737 276000.
