Consultation on Council's taxi and private hire vehicle policy

The Borough Council is committed to consulting with the community on a wide range of issues. This consultation is about our policy regarding taxis and private hire vehicles.

Consultation overview

Every few years the Council carries out a review of policies and conditions relating to the licensing of hackney carriage (taxis) and private hire drivers and vehicles, and private hire operators.

This is to ensure that the conditions and policies continue to be relevant.

Who are we consulting?

Taxi and private hire drivers, operators of taxis and private hire vehicles, taxi and private hire users, and interested parties including disability groups, local partnership groups, transport user groups, residents’ associations.

We are also inviting web users to take part in the consultation.

Why are we consulting?

To give the hackney carriage and private hire trade and other interested parties the opportunity to be involved in the review of the conditions and policies.

When is the consultation taking place?

From 9 August 2004 until 20 September 2004.
