Food alerts
This section provides information about the food alert system to tell people if a food or drinks product is unsafe.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) operates a system to alert the public and local authorities to serious problems concerning food which does not meet food safety requirements.
This is known as a 'Food Alerts System'.
A 'Food Alert' gives an account of the problem, details of the batch or batches of food affected, the likely distribution of the product and action to be taken.
The warning is sent by email to all Environmental Health and Trading Standards departments to enable a quick and effective response.
