Living in Reigate and Banstead
This page tells you more about the benefits of living in Reigate and Banstead.
We have a thriving community life based around our four main towns. Banstead, Horley, Redhill and Reigate
each have their own distinctive character. The borough is also home to a wide range of attractive villages, including Sidlow, Chipstead and Walton-on-the-Hill. With a good mix of historic and new communities, the borough is one of the most affordable locations in Surrey.
Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
Reigate and Banstead is located within the Green Belt and the borough has some glorious countryside, including the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the North Downs Way, Walton Downs and Reigate Heath.
The Council manages around 600 hectares of open space, almost half of which is woodland. We maintain 55 parks and 34 play areas to an exceptionally high standard, including historic Priory Park in Reigate.
We also have a rich cultural life with the Harlequin Theatre and Cinema in Redhill and the Everyman Cinema in Reigate.
Even with all this on the doorstep, you are never too far from London or great travel connections to points further afield. At the heart of the borough, Redhill is only 27 minutes by train from London Victoria. Gatwick Airport is close by, the M23/A23 provides a fast link to the south coast and the M25 is easily accessible from all parts of the borough.
